The expertise level dialog
Your expertise level (Business, Functional, or Technical) controls the vocabulary OdoMate’s business analyst uses while it talks to you — see profile preferences for what each level means and how to change your saved default from your profile page. This page covers where you’re actually asked for it: a dialog built into the generation wizard, not the settings page.
The first-time dialog
Section titled “The first-time dialog”The first time you open the generation wizard, a dialog appears before you can do anything else: “How comfortable are you with Odoo?”, with a card for each of the three levels.
Confirming a card does two things at once: it saves that level as your account’s default (the same value the Preferences card on your profile page shows and edits), and it starts your current session at that level. You only see this blocking version once — after your first choice, OdoMate always has a default to fall back on.
Changing it while you write a requirement
Section titled “Changing it while you write a requirement”On the Describe step of the wizard, a compact Your level control sits above the requirement text box, showing the same three options as small buttons. Clicking one switches the level for the session you’re currently working on — no dialog, no confirmation step.
Next to it, an Edit default link opens the same dialog again, this time in an update mode you can cancel out of. Confirming a level there does the same double update as the onboarding dialog: it changes your session’s level and overwrites your saved account default, so it’s the quickest way to change your default without leaving the wizard for your profile page.
Once refining starts, it’s locked
Section titled “Once refining starts, it’s locked”Moving past the Describe step into the refine chat freezes the level for that session — the picker is replaced by a small locked badge next to the heading (see refining requirements with AI), and it can’t be changed for the rest of that conversation. Sessions can run for a while and the analyst’s questions build on earlier ones, so switching vocabulary mid-conversation would make its own earlier questions inconsistent. If you want to talk to OdoMate at a different level, start a new requirement — the wizard will use whatever your current default is, which you can change first from either the inline picker’s Edit default link or your profile page.
