Inviting team members

Only a team’s owner can invite people onto it. This page covers sending an invitation, what its status means while it’s pending, revoking one, and — from the other side — accepting or declining an invitation you’ve received.

  1. Open the team dashboard. Only the owner sees the Pending invitations card.
  2. Under Invite by email, enter the colleague’s email address.
  3. Select Send invite.

The field clears on success and the invitation appears in the list below it. You can’t invite yourself, and you can’t send a second invitation to an address that already has one pending on this team — sending either one back shows an inline error instead.

Each row in Pending invitations shows the invitee’s email, who sent the invitation, and one of two statuses:

  • Awaiting acceptance — the address already has an OdoMate account. The invitation is now waiting on the invitee: it shows up for them the next time they visit their Profile page, and nothing more happens until they accept or decline it.
  • Awaiting admin approval — the address has no OdoMate account yet. OdoMate is closed beta, so an admin has to approve the address onto the beta before the invitation can reach anyone. Once that happens, the row moves to Awaiting acceptance on its own, and the invitee sees it the same way — on their Profile page, after they sign up and sign in.

Select Revoke on any row in Pending invitations, whichever status it shows. There’s no confirmation step — it takes effect immediately, and the row disappears from the list. Revoking an invitation the invitee never responded to and removing a member who already joined are different actions: this one only ever affects an invitation that hasn’t been accepted yet.

If someone has invited you to their team, you’ll see it on your Profile page as a Team invitation notice naming who invited you and which team it’s for — you don’t need to go looking for it anywhere else.

  1. Open your Profile page.
  2. On the Team invitation notice, select Accept to join, or Decline to turn it down.

Accepting adds you to the team as a member, and the team dashboard — including its shared GitHub connection, see sharing your team’s GitHub connection — becomes available to you. Declining just removes the notice; the team’s owner can send another invitation later if they want to.
