Downloading a lead magnet
Some OdoMate blog posts link to a free downloadable resource — a spec template or a similar guide — in exchange for your email address. These links are styled as a standalone call-to-action inside the post, distinct from the article’s other links.
Getting the download
Section titled “Getting the download”- Select the call-to-action link in the post. On a page with JavaScript enabled, this opens a dialog without leaving the article; the dialog’s title and description describe the resource you’re about to get.
- Enter your email and select your role from the dropdown — both are required. Company is optional.
- Check the consent box. It’s required — without it there’s nothing to submit — and it links to OdoMate’s Privacy Notice.
- Select Send me the download.
After you submit
Section titled “After you submit”The form is replaced by a confirmation: “Check your inbox. We’ve sent the
download link to you@example.com. It’s valid for 7 days — if you don’t see
it, check your spam folder.” No file is delivered on this screen — the
download only arrives by email, at the address you entered.
Getting the file
Section titled “Getting the file”Select the link in the email to download the file directly — there’s nothing further to fill in. The link works as many times as you use it within its 7-day window; each click starts the download fresh.
If the link has expired
Section titled “If the link has expired”Selecting a download link more than 7 days after it was sent shows “This download link has expired. Download links are valid for 7 days. Fill in the form on the article again and we’ll send you a fresh one.” with a link back to the blog. There’s no way to extend or reissue an old link — go back to the post and submit the form again to get a new one.
Requesting the same resource again
Section titled “Requesting the same resource again”Submitting the form again with the same email — whether to get a fresh link after the old one expired, or from a different post offering the same resource — doesn’t create a second signup. OdoMate keeps one record per email address per resource and sends a new download link each time, while keeping the original date you first signed up for it.
If submitting doesn’t work
Section titled “If submitting doesn’t work”A failed submission shows the same generic message: “Something went wrong. Please try again in a minute.” This covers a few different cases — a temporary problem sending the email, or too many requests from you in a short window — and doesn’t distinguish between them. Waiting a few minutes before trying again resolves it in most cases.
