Installing a module locally

OdoMate is in closed beta, so some screens may still change.

Download the module as a ZIP, unpack it into your addons directory, then restart Odoo and update the apps list. The module appears under its own name.

The Odoo documentation covers addons paths in more detail.

Where does the addons directory live? Wherever your Odoo 19 instance is configured to look — the addons_path entry in its configuration file. A Docker install usually mounts one from the host.

Do I need to restart Odoo after copying the module in? Yes. Odoo reads the module list at startup, so a module added while the server is running is invisible until you restart it and update the apps list.

Can I install the same module into more than one database? Yes. The module is ordinary Odoo code; installing it into a second database is the same operation as the first.
